Do you want to enjoy the day at the pool, lake or beach and protect your child from the sun? No problem with our short-sleeved and long-sleeved Lycra shirts and swimsuits with sun protection factor 50+!
Why UV clothing for children
Our UV clothing offers the best protection:
- Polyester and nylon naturally offer better protection than cotton
- special weaving technique lets less sunlight through
- Treatment of the fabric with UV-absorbing and reflecting pigments
- the fabrics we use are all certified with UPF50+
What does UPF50 + mean
UPF stands for "Ultraviolet Protection Factor" and indicates the level of protection textiles offer against ultraviolet (UV) rays. A UPF value of 50+ means that the material blocks at least 98% of UV rays. This is comparable to a sun cream with a protection factor of 50+ that is applied very regularly and, above all, with sufficient coverage.
UV protective clothing or sunscreen
If sunscreen is applied regularly and without gaps, it works just as well. However, the UV protection of the clothing is guaranteed to be complete and the protection does not decrease over the course of the day.
Short sleeve, long sleeve Lycra shirt or long sleeve swimsuit - which is best for my child?
This depends on the age and skin type of your child. In general, the lighter the skin type, the more coverage. For small children, we recommend the Malia swimsuit or our Marlon long-sleeved Lycra . From 1 year, the Laila swimsuit , the Lena swimsuit or the Lean board shorts combined with an Aina UV shirt . Plus our children's sun hats . Please remember to apply a high sun protection factor cream to all uncovered areas before your child goes out in the sun.
Yvi: “My 6-year-old daughter doesn't like to have sunscreen applied, so she prefers to wear the Laila long-sleeved swimsuit, which covers a lot of skin. I put the Malia baby swimsuit on my 1-year-old daughter. We also often use Lycra shirts when hiking.”
Does UV clothing wear out?
By law, clothing with UV protection must provide complete protection after at least 50 long periods of exposure to the sun. You can also wash it in the washing machine at 30 degrees. Chlorine and machine washing will eventually wear off the protection. We therefore recommend that you do not give UV protection clothing that has already been used many times to other children.
How to protect your child from the sun
- Avoid direct sunlight from 11am to 3pm
- cover the skin, preferably with UV clothing
- put a sun hat on your child
- Sunscreen must be reapplied again and again
- offer your child plenty to drink to prevent dehydration
